( Las Vegas, NV ) –  There have now been 6 flu-related deaths in our area so far this season.

That from Dr Joe Iser, the Chief Medical Officer of the Southern Nevada Health District, telling 100.5 this morning that the victims include 3 older people, two of what he describes as “younger folk” and one so-called middle-aged person (he didn’t give their ages).

Iser says it’s not too late to get a flu shot and that it can take up to two weeks for the shot to fully kick in.

He also says people who complain that the vaccination gives them the flu may have, instead, been exposed to the disease.

The flu season normally peaks in January and February, so it’s still going around.

Iser repeats the suggestion that everyone aged 6 months and older should get a flu shot.
