LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada’s Republican national committeeman is resigning from the post.
James Smack of Fallon tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he will step down in February to spend more time with his family.
Smack was elected to the national committee at the 2012 state Republican convention, defeating former Nevada Gov. Robert List who held the position previously.
The state GOP Central Committee is expected to choose Smack’s replacement when it meets Feb. 15 in Fallon.
Smack is endorsing Patrick Kerby of Nye County as his replacement.
