LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge in Las Vegas set bail at $500,000 for an Arizona woman and her boyfriend, who remain jailed in a Christmas week shooting that left a motorist badly wounded on the Las Vegas Strip.

Brittanie Merritt-Burwell and Joshua Youngblood made a brief court appearance Monday following their arrests last week at a Las Vegas fast-food restaurant.

Both face a Jan. 17 preliminary hearing of evidence in the Dec. 23 shooting.

Merritt-Burwell is 21 years old and from Glendale, Ariz.

She’s accused of attempted murder for allegedly shooting the man in the neck in what witnesses and police describe as a traffic dispute.

Merritt-Burwell later told police she was defending herself.

The 28-year-old Youngblood is accused of carrying a concealed weapon and harboring a felony offender.
