Avalanche Risk High Through Weekend In Northern Utah
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Avalanche Center is warning of high slide danger in northern Utah through the weekend.
Officials at the center issued a special avalanche bulletin for the next few days, saying conditions are dangerous in west, north and east-facing terrain above about 8,500 feet elevation.
They say human-triggered slides 1-3 feet deep are likely and could be triggered at a distance.
Avalanche experts recommend recreationalists stay on slopes that are less steep than about 35 degrees, and aren’t located below or next to steeper terrain.
