LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 60-year-old man is dead and a 21-year-old driver faces a driving under the influence charge after a fatal Christmas Eve crash on a busy boulevard near a hospital.

The Clark County coroner identified the dead man on Wednesday as Roger Lee Pardue.

Police say Pardue wasn’t using a nearby pedestrian bridge and wasn’t in a marked crosswalk when he was struck and killed by a minivan about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Maryland Parkway in front of Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center.

Pardue was pronounced dead at the scene.

Clark County jail records show the driver, Arnoldo Perez, is being held on $2,000 bail pending an initial court appearance on a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Police say a passenger in the 1997 Nissan Quest, 28-year-old Carlos Perez, wasn’t injured.
