LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge has eased jail restrictions for a 48-year-old ex-convict from California man who authorities say plotted from behind bars to kill a 13-year-old girl he’s accused of sexually assaulting.

Records show that Clark County District Court Judge James Bixler on Tuesday restored Clark County jail visitation, telephone and mail for Richard Martin Schlacta.

But the judge said visits and calls must be recorded, and mail must be reviewed by authorities.

Schlacta is being held on $1 million bail.

Bixler said Schlacta must remain in isolation pending his June 16 trial on charges including kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor that could get him life in prison.

The girl testified that Schlacta grabbed her Aug. 28 at a school bus stop and attacked her.

Schlacta has pleaded not guilty.
