(Las Vegas, NV)  —  A Las Vegas cab driver did the right thing after someone left thousands of dollars in the back seat.

Gerardo Gamboa was making a pickup at the Bellagio hotel Monday, when a doorman handed him a brown paper bag which had been left in the back seat.  It contained $300,000 in cash, according to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The Checker Cab driver notified his dispatcher and turned in the money.  It was tracked to an earlier passenger who traveled in the taxi from the Cosmopolitan to Palms Place.

Police helped locate the rightful owner, described only as a “prominent poker player” who received a $300,000 payout earlier that evening.

No word if Gamboa has, or will receive a reward.
