Lovers Spat Starts House Fire
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas-area home suffered thousands of dollars in damages after a woman apparently set her boyfriend’s clothes on fire in a bathtub after they got in a fight.
Clark County firefighters say the girlfriend was checked by paramedics after the fire early Thursday morning, but wasn’t taken to the hospital. She was arrested and booked on suspicion of first-degree arson.
Authorities say the fire first came to light when a smoke alarm went off at the home on Camero Avenue. Crews who responded found a fire in the upstairs bathroom and had it under control in about 10 minutes.
Firefighters say the bathroom and water lines were burned, and that caused drywall and water damage on the first floor.
Damages were estimated at $15,000.
