CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A panel of state lawmakers has given the OK to tap nearly $1.5 million to set up a drone testing program should Nevada be tapped by the federal government as one of six testing sites nationwide.

The Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee approved the funds Monday for the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

Director Steve Hill says the money will be used to get the program up and running if Nevada is named as a testing site. A decision by the Federal Aviation Administration is expected by Dec. 31.
