LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada university regents have approved making Tina Kunzer-Murphy the permanent athletic director at UNLV.
The board on Friday approved a three-year contract with the former Las Vegas Bowl director.
She had been serving as interim head of the UNLV athletic program since Jim Livengood retired in July.
Kunzer-Murphy becomes the first woman and first UNLV alumna to hold the AD position.
She didn’t immediately respond to a message, but said in a UNLV statement that she saw hard work ahead.
Kunzer-Murphy was a 2007 inductee in the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame for her work promoting the Las Vegas Bowl.
She stepped down in 2012 after 12 years directing the bowl for ESPN Regional Television, saying at the time that she hoped to find another role in college sports.
