When it comes to the playoffs, teams need every healthy player that they can possibly get, and sometimes that just isn’t the way it works out. It is that time of year when teams start rushing players back or bringing them back onto the field before they are at one hundred percent, and it could end up hurting them in the long run.
Seahawks Percy Harvin listed as doubtful against New Orleans Saints
One of the biggest games of the NFL season will happen on Monday night as the New Orleans Saints travel to face the Seattle Seahawks for first place in the NFC. The Seahawks already have a hampered secondary and now they may be without wide receiver Percy Harvin who is listed as doubtful.
He most likely will not play in the game as he didn’t practice much of the past week and has continued soreness in his surgically repaired hip. Coach Pete Carroll has already said, “We don’t want to push it. It’s not worth it.”
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin could get a huge, six-figure fine for kickoff gaffe
After Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin got in the way of Baltimore Ravens return man Jacoby Jones during the Thanksgiving game, there have been a lot of laughs to be had. There won’t be many laughs now though as the NFL is mulling a six-figure fine for Tomlin and could possibly take a draft pick away from the team as well.
The official discipline is expected early this week.
Tomlin is not expected to be suspended for stepping onto the field during the Thursday night game, and he was not penalized for the incident. The NFL will investigate further and you can be sure that this incident is far from over.
Dolphins officially end season for Jonathan Martin
Jonathan Martin’s tumultuous season with the Miami Dolphins has officially come to an end even though there’s still at least a month left in 2013. The team has placed him on the non-football injury list and that means the second-year offensive lineman is ineligible to play for the rest of the season and he won’t count toward the 53-man roster of the Dolphins.
Martin has been away from the team for almost two months since the bullying ordeal with Richie Incognito came to light. In an odd note, some reports now state that head coach Joe Philbin actually wanted Incognito cut after 2013 due to allegedly harassing a volunteer at a charity golf event.
The Dolphins have signed safety D.J. Campbell to take Martin’s spot. Incognito’s suspension by the Dolphins has been extended but with pay.
