(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–UNLV football Coach Bobby Hauck will have a little extra going for him on the sideline Saturday night when his Rebels face San Diego State–job security.
He has been given a new, three-year contract by the university, subject to Board of Regents approval.
The deal would extend the coach’s tenure through the 2016 season.
The announcement comes as Huack’s team became bowl-eligible for the first time since 2000 and the first time since Hauck’s arrival. The Rebels are 6-5 this season, making them eligible for post-season play. Overall, Hauck’s record at UNLV is 12-37, but the team ran off four straight wins after a slow start this year.
