(Las Vegas, NV)  —  The nation’s fifth-largest school district has applied for a state grant to reduce kindergarten class sizes.

The money will pay for 166 new teachers in the Clark County School District.

A new mandate requires all Nevada public schools to have no more than 21 students per kindergarten class next year.

Clark County has already capped enrollment for classes with high numbers of English language learners.
