HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Henderson police say a 49-year-old man was shot dead while trying to break in to his estranged girlfriend’s apartment.

Authorities say the incident happened a little before 2 a.m. Sunday on Green Valley Parkway.

Police say the man and woman had argued while attending a party, and she took him to his house before returning to her own apartment.

Officials say the woman invited a male acquaintance to her apartment because she feared the boyfriend would come back.

Police say the boyfriend later tried to enter the apartment through a window and kept advancing after the male acquaintance warned that he was armed.

The man shot the boyfriend, who died on the scene.

Prosecutors are expected to review the case to determine whether charges should be filed.
