Dogs To Be Euthanized After Attacking Children

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two dogs that attacked children in Las Vegas last week are set to be euthanized.

City spokesman Jace Radke says the owner has signed the dogs over to the city, and they’ll be put to sleep after a 10-day hold.

Police say the attacks happened Wednesday evening when a bullmastiff and a pit bull mix got loose from a home. Officials say the dogs bit a 12-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, who were both taken to the hospital.

Authorities say at least one of the children was in serious condition after the incident.

Radke tells KVVU-TV the dogs’ owner was cited for not having the animals’ rabies shots up to date, not licensing them, not neutering the dogs and letting them run free.
