(Las Vegas, NV) — The doctor convicted in Las Vegas’ hepatitis C outbreak has learned his fate.
Dr. Depak Desai has been given a sentence of life in prison for murder in the Hepatitis C outbreak. He was found guilty in the death of 77-year-old Rodolfo Meana in April 2012.
He will be eligible for parole in ten years, but Desai’s lawyer Richard Wright tells KXNT that sentences for the other felony charges for which he was convicted are to be served consecutively, and that Desai is unlikely to ‘ever see the light of day’.
Desai and nurse Lakeman were convicted in district court on criminal charges on July 1st. Lakeman was found not guilty of murder.
