(Las Vegas, NV)  —  A new version of the “More Cops” sales tax initiative will be introduced at Tuesday’s county commission meeting.

After commissioners rejected two different versions of the so-called “More Cops” proposal earlier this month, Commissioner Tom Collins said he would bring the idea back. And now he’s done just that.

This new version would raise the sales in steps, starting in April with a tenth-of-a-percent hike, followed a point-zero-five percent increase in in July.

A vote on the latest idea is not expected today because there will likely be a public hearing, perhaps sometime next month.

At least one other Commissioner, Steve Sisolak , has already indicated he’s not likely to support the revised sales tax proposal.
