Las Vegas – Its official this coming Sunday’s matchup between the winless Jaguars and undefeated Broncos is the highest point spread posted in NFL since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
The Broncos who are coming off a 51 to 48 shootout win over the Cowboys opened up as 28 point favorites over the Jaguars who lost their fifth straight game on Sunday, losing to the Rams in St Louis 34-20.
According to the Gold Sheet the 28 point spread ties the NFL all-time record set by the Baltimore Colts over the expansion Atlanta Falcon in 1966. Other sources claim the highest spread in NFL history came in 1976 when the Steelers played the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers and were favored by 24.
The South Points Jimmy Vaccaro says it’s the highest point spread he’s ever seen and adds that “I would suggest it will probably go down a little and then back up come game time”. Listen to the full interview with Jimmy below.
