FALLON, Nev. (AP) — Quick-draw artists from around the world are gathering in northern Nevada to try to prove themselves the “Fastest Gun Alive.”
The Cowboy Fast Draw Association is hosting the competition for the international title Friday through Sunday at the Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon about 60 miles east of Reno.
Cal Elrich, a 17-time World Fast Draw Champion, is among the 200 shooters from around the world who will battle for more than $40,000 in prizes. He calls the event is a celebration of the Old West and the “cowboy way.” He says it’s all about handshakes and camaraderie.
All events are open to the public. Thirty vendors and 50 Civil War re-enactors will be on hand Saturday and Sunday at Town Folk Alley.
