LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities are having trouble finding the family of a 58-year-old University of Nevada, Las Vegas student who was found dead in her dorm room last month.
Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/1bt5b0C) the woman had left contact information for a relative with the school, but it was outdated and led to a dead end.
Murphy says most of the woman’s family has apparently died. He says his office is working diligently to find a surviving sister.
A dorm counselor investigating a strange odor in Faiman Residence Hall found the woman’s body Sept. 5. Police say foul play wasn’t involved, and the coroner ruled that she died of natural causes.
Bodies that aren’t claimed for several months are typically cremated and placed in a county crypt.
