Las Vegas CBS KXNT – Clark County commissioners chose the region’s most famous landmark to demonstrate to the world during Breast Cancer Awareness month that Las Vegas has a serious side.

Four of the commissioners threw a switch on Monday morning, lighting up the Fabulous Las Vegas Sign with pink light bulbs in place of the traditional yellow bulbs that frame the sign.

Commissioners Steve Sisolak, Mary Beth Scow, Susan Brager, and Lawrence Weekly each spoke briefly about the importance of early detection through screening and mammograms.
Sisolak noted that the sign will be memorialized with pink bulbs in thousands of tourist photographs over the coming weeks.
