CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — State officials say Nevada gambling winnings are up 11.2 percent in August compared with a year earlier.

The state Gaming Control Board reported Monday that Nevada casinos brought in $955 million in August.

Las Vegas Strip revenue was up 20 percent, to $589 million, while downtown revenue was down 8.3 percent to $33 million.

Reno casino winnings jumped 9.7 percent to $54 million in August, while South Lake Tahoe casino numbers were down 2.7 percent to $21 million.

The state collected $51 million in fees based on the August revenue. That’s up 3.5 percent from the same time last year.
