(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A 44 year old history teacher at Lied Middle School has been charged with attempted sex acts with a minor.

Michael Barclay, 44, has been with the Clark County School District for ten years. When he was arrested, the school district placed him on paid home leave, but CCSD spokeswoman Melinda Malone tells KXNT that the district will now move to dismiss him since the District Attorney’s office has filed charges.

An assistant principal at the school has been placed on paid home leave pending additional investigation.

Barclay was a boys basketball coach at the school. He is the second teacher at Lied to be charged with illicit sexual behavior in the last month. A teacher and girl’s softball coach at Lied was charged with lewdness with a minor just a few weeks ago.

Police, meantime, are asking for help from the public. Detectives are asking anyone who has concerns their child may have been a victim of Michael Barclay to call the Sexual Assault Section at 702-828-3421 or to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 702-385-5555 or on the internet at http://www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
