SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) — South Salt Lake police say a 48-year-old man who answered a knock on his apartment door was fatally stabbed in the stomach.
A roommate told police it didn’t appear the victim and suspect spoke to each other before the stabbing about 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say victim Rickey Magnuson was taken to the hospital with the knife still in his body, and later died of his injuries.
Officials say they found 20-year-old suspect Ansumana Jadama inside his apartment and arrested him on suspicion of homicide and aggravated burglary. Detectives say they found a knife handle at the home, and are investigating whether it was involved in the crime.
South Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Snyder says it appears the victim and suspect knew each other, but a motive is unclear.
