Curfew Would Snag Innocent Kids, Councilman Says
Las Vegas CBS KXNT – A proposed 9:00 p.m. curfew for Fremont Street is on hold until October 1, when the city council will consider redrawing its geographic boundaries.
Councilman Ricki Barlow is urging a tighter area for the curfew, which would keep kids 17 and younger away from the downtown merchants at night. The boundaries as they are currently drawn reach too far into the streets, Barlow told KNXT, where kids could get into trouble just for standing in their own front yards.
Barlow says Fremont Street bars and casinos want to make sure the adults have a good time, and the kids stay safe, and the police want to cut crime. There is a 10:00 city-wide curfew in effect currently.
