GEORGE NOORY IN LAS VEGAS: Get tickets now -- be there June 9!

Las Vegas CBS KXNT -An Allegiant Air flight bound for Peoria had to be evacuated just before takeoff from McCarran Airport Monday afternoon because of smoke in the cockpit.

There were two minor injuries during the evacuation of flight 436, Allegiant spokesman Brian Davis told KXNT. All 144 passengers and 6 crew got off safely using emergency slides and were returned by bus to the terminal.

The next concern for the airline is finding new flights for the passengers who wish to continue to Peoria Monday evening, Davis Said. Allegiant has fewer than one flight a day going there, but will work to reroute all of the passengers as soon as possible.

The plane, and MD-80 with 166 seats, has been removed from service.
