Roads Reopen Following Flood

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The state highway that connects Las Vegas to Pahrump has been reopened after work crews repaired damage from flash flooding that prompted evacuations in northwest valley neighborhoods over the weekend.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says State Routes 157 and 160 were reopened in both directions by Sunday night.

The high waters had closed residential streets northwest of Las Vegas on Saturday and Sunday.

Runoff from the Springs Mountains forced more than two dozen evacuations from the Rainbow Canyon subdivision in Mount Charleston before the waters receded Sunday.

At one point along Interstate 15, troopers say water levels roses as high as 3 feet within 30 minutes on roads near the Sloan exit.

One driver became trapped and had to be towed to safety but there were no reports of injuries.
