Las Vegas – The Rebels opened their season Thursday night in Minnesota but things didn’t quiet go UNLV’s way, as the Golden Gophers put the hammer down in the second half and beat the Rebels 51 to 23.

Rebel quarterback Nick Sherry was 35 for 50 with 226 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Tim Cornett rushed for 80 yarsd and a touchdown and Shaquille Murray-Lawrence gained 108 yards on four carries for the Rebels.

The loss marks the 23 in a row on the road for the Rebels, last winning in New Mexico in 2009. The Rebels are back home on Septmeber 7th at Sam Boyd Stadium to host Arizona.
