(LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Lawyers say they’re trying to contact more than 7,000 current and former employees at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas who could be eligible to collect damages in a lawsuit claiming systematic wage and overtime abuse.

Officials at the casino resort aren’t commenting about mailers going out Friday to people who’ve worked there since the $3.9 billion high-rise property opened on the Las Vegas Strip in December 2010.

Attorneys for a former casino money changer and others say company handbooks instructed workers to complete tasks like changing into uniforms and exchanging bankrolls before and after punching time clocks.

They’re seeking damages of $70 million or more.

U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge George Foley Jr. has granted conditional class certification under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

That allows plaintiffs’ attorneys to contact everyone who may be affected.
