NORTH OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A home health care worker has been charged with stealing nearly $2,000 from an 86-year-old woman under her care in North Ogden.

A warrant was issued Wednesday for 20-year-old Lauren Hunsaker on charges of theft and exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

Hunsaker was given access to the woman’s ATM cards and personal identification numbers to help her buy groceries and other items after Hunsaker began working for her in January.

But according to court documents, the woman’s family contacted police two weeks later to report $1,900 was missing from two credit union accounts, and the money was never spent on the patient.

In 2012, Hunsaker was convicted of three charges related to unlawful use of a credit card.
