LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy at a birthday party in north central Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were called to a shooting at a home on the 1100 block of Tamerack Avenue just before midnight Saturday.

Officers found a male minor in the backyard with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 17-year-old Jaylin Lewis, the Las Vegas Sun and Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Officer Bill Cassell says in a statement that several party attendees became involved in a fight, which led to the shooting.

Detectives say the shooting suspect fled from the home.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Las Vegas Metro Police.
