8 Pedestrians Injured In Las Vegas Hit-And-Run While Leaving Church

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police say they believe an 18-year-old woman may have been under the influence of drugs when she struck 8 pedestrians who were leaving a North Las Vegas church.

North Las Vegas police Sgt. Tim Bedwell says the woman has been booked into the Las Vegas city jail following the crash that happened about 11 p.m. Thursday. She faces eight counts of felony hit-and-run and eight charges of misdemeanor failing to render aid.

The pedestrians were struck as they were leaving the Iglesia de Cristo church on Losee Road, near Lake Mead Boulevard.

The Mitsubishi Galant drove off, but police say a witness followed the driver to a dead end, and police took her into custody when she fled on foot.

Police say the victims’ injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening.
