High Speed Chase Suspect Had Rifle
(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Police say a man who led them on a n 80 mph chase on Jones Boulevard and two freeways over the weekend had an assault rifle on the front seat of his car. The weapon, they say, turned out to be unloaded.
Enrique Flores has been booked on weapons charges and evading a police officer.
Police say the incident began when employees of a fast food restaurant suspected the man was going to rob the business. Police tried to pull over Flores’ vehicle on Jones but he continued to speed away, entering Highway 95, then later I-15. Tire spikes put down by police for the car eventually stopped the vehicle, but the incident was not over. An officer says Flores at first ignored multiple warnings in English and Spanish to show his hands and exit the vehicle. A rifle was spotted on the front seat.
Flores was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
Police say Flores’ has two prior felony convictions in California. His vehicle had California plates, and records show the auto is registered to an address in Orange County, California.
