LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Las Cruces police say a man fatally shot himself after he killed his sister-in-law because she was a possible grand jury witness against him.
According to police, 70-year-old Richard McIntyre abducted 59-year-old Lisa Cash at gunpoint Wednesday night and forced her to drive to another location a few blocks away where they argued.
Police say McIntyre then shot Cash in the head before getting out of the parked car and shooting himself.
According to police, say McIntyre was under investigation in the alleged abuse and sexual assault of a relative of Cash and that the case was to be heard Thursday by a grand jury.
Detectives believe McIntyre was upset that Cash might be a witness against him.
