TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities in Tucson say a man is dead after jumping from a cliff into a pool at Tanque Verde Falls near the southern Arizona city.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office say witnesses reporting see the 29-year-old man hit his head while jumping off a cliff into the water on Sunday.

Bystanders pulled him from the water after he didn’t immediately surface. However, he was unconscious and not breathing.

The bystanders immediately started life-saving techniques until deputies arrived a few minutes later. He was pronounced dead after paramedics arrived.

His death is being called a possible drowning.
