(Las Vegas, NV) Las Vegas police officer David Vanbuskirk was laid to rest Monday. And his colleagues cried and laughed in his honor.

The member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s search and rescue team died July 22nd trying to save a hiker on Mount Charleston.

The funeral home at Central Christian Church in Henderson was full.

A motorcade escorted the body of the officer along with his family and members of the search and rescue and air support team from Palm Mortuary.

The motorcade traveled down Las Vegas Blvd. before arrving in Henderson.

After the funeral service, there will was a second motorcade from the church to the cemetery on Eastern Avenue.

Vanbuskirk’s family was presented with a flag during a graveside service and there was a 21-gun salute and a flyover by LVMPD Air Support Section.
