(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Governor Sandoval Brian Sandoval has ordered flags at state buildings to fly at half-staff in honor of a Las Vegas rescuer who died earlier this week in a rescue attempt.

The tribute to David Vanbuskirk begins today and runs through Monday, the day of his funeral.

Meantime, a donation drive will take place tomorrow to benefit the family of the officer. It will be at the Sam’s Club on Eastern and Serene all day Saturday, supervised by the Injured Police Officers Fund.

The funeral for Vanbuskirk is set for mid-day Monday in Henderson. Police are planning a procession along the Strip Monday, too.
