(Las Vegas, NV) Nevada health officials say Gov. Brian Sandoval is calling for special legislative action to speed up mental health funding after an accrediting agency denied Rawson-Neal it’s accreditation.
The news came in a statement Wednesday from state health and human services chief Mike Willden. It wasn’t immediately clear what special action was sought.
The Joint Commission voted last week to give the hospital a “preliminary denial of accreditation,” indicating there are problems at the facility that could result in a loss of accreditation.
The hospital remains accredited and has an opportunity to appeal the decision.
Willden said the commission’s decision appears to be based on outdated information and doesn’t accurately reflect current conditions and recent policy changes.
The mark is based on a site visit in May.
