LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former cocktail waitress has settled a federal lawsuit that accused former Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons of orchestrating a cover-up of allegations that he attacked her outside a Las Vegas restaurant when he was campaigning for governor.
Chrissy Mazzeo’s civil rights lawsuit against Gibbons, former Clark County Sheriff Bill Young, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Republican political strategist Sig Rogich was dismissed July 12, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.
Mazzeo accepted $50,000, attorney Walter Cannon told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Gibbons a member of Congress when Mazzeo alleged that he threatened to sexually assault her in a parking garage in October 2006.
Gibbons said he walked Mazzeo to her car and grabbed her arm when she tripped and fell. , filed in U.S. District Court.
