(CARSON CITY, NV., KXNT, A.P.)–The wildfire in northern Nevada triggered by lightning a week ago is now 65% percent contained.
The Bison Fire is burning in in the Pine Nut Mountains. Full containment is expected Sunday. Fire spokeswoman Elayn Briggs says the fire has burned more than 27,000 acres since July 4. A thousand firefighters have engaged the blaze, where temperatures dipped into the 80′s, with low humidity Thursday.
A voluntary evacuation order for people living in threatened areas near Gardnerville and Carson City has been lifted.
