New Cops For Metro Hinges On County Commission Vote
(Las Vegas, NV) The Nevada Legislature approved an additional quarter-cent sales tax to provide more cops for Clark County.
Sheriff Doug Gillespie is now looking for the go ahead from the Clark County Commission to hire those officers.
Gillespie has been saying for a long period of time that Las Vegas is not as safe as it should be due to the lack of officers.
The police academy starts up again next week with 47 potential new officers, but they wouldn’t be ready for an entire year, which leaves the department still undermanned.
The county is scheduled to vote on the tax revenue hike in two weeks.
