LAS VEGAS (AP) — Coroner’s officials say an acrobat who fell about 90 feet during a Cirque du Soleil performance in Las Vegas over the weekend died of multiple blunt force trauma.

Officials say Tuesday that they’ve ruled 31-year-old Sarah Guillot-Guyard’s death an accident. The mother of two was a French citizen and Las Vegas resident.

Audience members who witnessed the accident say they initially thought the acrobat’s fall Saturday night during a fight scene in “Ka” was part of the show. They say they realized something had gone wrong when they heard cries of performers.

Cirque du Soleil officials say this was the first time a performer has died from an onstage accident in the company’s 29-year history.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched an investigation that could take six months.
