LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada state court jury found former doctor and Las Vegas endoscopy clinic owner Dipak Desai guilty of all 27 charges against him — including second-degree murder — in a 2007 hepatitis C outbreak.

The jury found a former Desai employee, nurse anesthetist Ronald Lakeman, guilty Monday of 16 of 27 charges against him.

Desai family members sobbed and cried out as Desai and Lakeman were handcuffed and taken to jail to await sentencing Sept. 5.

Each faces prison for what could be the rest of his life.

Attorneys for both say they’ll appeal.

The charges stemmed from the infections of seven people during procedures at Desai’s Endoscopy Clinic of Southern Nevada.

The murder charge stems from the death in April 2012 of 77-year-old patient Rodolfo Meana.
