(Washington, DC)  —  The door may not be shut on storing high-level nuclear waste in Nevada.

A bipartisan group of senators have introduced a bill to deal with the nation’s radioactive waste.  It would create temporary centralized storage, and also grandfather the licensing process for the Yucca Mountain site northwest of Las Vegas.

Senators Harry Reid and Dean Heller says they will fight any effort to revive the site.

A  federal court will soon rule whether the Nuclear Regulatory Commission should license Yucca Mountain.
