Las Vegas – Las Vegas 51’s 1st baseman Ike Davis has been named the Player for the Week in the Pacific Coast League for the week of June 17th – June 23rd.
Davis hit .474 including 4 home runs and 7 RBI in 6 games last week to help Vegas to a 4 and 2 record.
Born in Edina, Minnesota, Davis was a first-round draft pick (18th overall) by the New York Mets in 2008 out of Arizona State University. After two seasons in the minors, Davis was called up by the Mets in 2010 where he has played in parts of the last four seasons.
Davis hit a team-high 32 home runs in 2012 while in New York, but was optioned to Las Vegas on June 9th after starting the 2013 season with a .161 average. In 12 games with the 51s this season, Davis is batting .310 with four home runs.
