Woman Survives Being Compacted In Garbage Truck Up To 10 Times

GLOBE, Ariz. (CBS Las Vegas) — Be careful where you decide to take a nap.

According to KPHO-TV, Jessica Bunyar fell asleep in a trash bin that was loaded into a garbage truck.

The driver of the Copper State Sanitation told the Globe Police Department that the truck made 10 stops and compacted the load eight to 10 times before realizing the woman was in there.

“She climbed in the bin to go to sleep for the night and just got caught in the pickup of the route,” Globe Fire Department Chief Al Gamero told KPHO.

Fire authorities said they got a call from a bystander who saw a head pop out of the truck and heard a woman’s voice.

“It’s not 100 percent compact. It’s 50 percent compacter,” Gamero told KPHO.

The driver immediately shut down the truck and found Bunyar.

The fire department and paramedics assisted the police department in getting Bunyar out of the truck by using a rope system with a stokes basket.

Bunyar was then airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition.
