(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A fatal accident involving a dump truck and a bicycle forced the closure of South Las Vegas Boulevard south of St. Rose Parkway near Sloan.

NHP Trooper Jeremie Eliot tells KXNT the wheels of the trailer being pulled by the dump truck struck the biker just after 8:00 Wednesday morning. He says the stretch of  State Route 604  is popular with cyclists and that drivers in the area are normally quite mindful of the presence of bikers.

No fault has been determined and investigators have not filed charges, as the investigation continues. There is a ‘3 feet law’ requiring drivers who share the road with bicyclists to give the rider at least 3 feet of space.
