(Las Vegas, NV)  —  The opening event of the World Series of Poker has set a new record for a live buy-in tournament.

Just over 6300 players have signed up for the Millionaire Maker, breaking the old entry record of nearly 4000 set in 2009.

The no-limit Texas Hold’em event continues today at the Rio hotel, and the last player standing will walk away with $1-million.
