RENO, Nev. (AP) — Officials at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport say security wasn’t compromised when an apparently drunk driver crashed through a perimeter fence.
KOLO-TV reports the rollover happened a little before 8 p.m. Sunday near Longley Lane and Peckham Lane.
Police say a man in his 30s veered off the road, hit the fence and flipped his Jeep.
Authorities say the driver got out of the vehicle and tried to walk away before police caught up with him. Officials say he denied that he was driving, but a witness said he was.
Police say the man’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
Airport spokeswoman Heidi Jared describes the fence as a property line barrier, not a security fence. She says no flights were affected, and damage was repaired immediately.
