(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A Las Vegas woman accused of staging injury accidents in Valley businesses has pleaded guilty to insurance fraud.
For a year, starting in late 2008, Mary Yonko would enter businesses, wait until she was undetected, then would claim to have fallen to the floor and was injured. The state Attorney General’s office says she did this at least ten times, and would eventually collect more than $30,000 in insurance settlements.
Authorities say she avoided detection by using aliases and different contact information.
She will be sentenced in October, and could get 8 years in prison and ordered to repay the money.
